Our Minister of Music
Rev. Nicos J. Elzy, a native of Monroe, LA, has served faithfully at Suburban Baptist Church since 2014. He shares his love for God and for music by aiding us through song in the worship experience. He loves to sing, play the keyboard, preach and teach.
Bro. Nicos, as he is affectionately known, was licensed to preach by Pastor Reuben L. Oliver at Bethel Baptist Church, under the B.B. & O. Association. He was ordained to the gospel ministry June 8, 2012 by Pastor Kenneth Speaks at St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church, under the LA Freedman's Association of New Orleans. He also studied at Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA.
Since serving at Suburban under the leadership of Dr. Jeffery Friend, Bro. Nicos has grown by leaps and bounds. He is currently enrolled as a student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he is working towards obtaining a Masters of Arts in Worship Ministries and a Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministries. Bro. Nicos is our Worship Leader/Minister of Music, Evangelism and Outreach Ministry Director, the "Hour of Power" Noonday Bible Study Instructor and he works with other ministries in the church as needed. Bro. Nicos has been also commissioned by Dr. Friend, approved by the Louisiana Baptist Association, and blessed by God to plant and establish Suburban Baptist Church W.E.S.T., to serve the citizens of St. Bernard Parish.
Bro. Nicos loves the Lord, and he loves serving the people. He and his wife, Ashley, are the parents of two beautiful children: Aarayana and Arlandan, and two lovely godchildren: Kentrell and Sky'e.
